Ki/Chi 気

Ki/Chi 気

Ki, known as Chi in Chinese, is often misunderstood as some kind of magical superpower. However, in reality, it simply means energy. To clearly understand this concept, look at its original kanji character, 気. This character consists of two parts: the top symbolizes steam, and the bottom represents rice. Thus, the original depiction literally illustrates “steaming rice,” a vivid representation of thermal energy.

Individuals recognized for their powerful Ki or Chi are not wielding magic but are simply masters at efficiently harnessing and directing energy. They exhibit exceptional and refined technical skills, achieved through dedicated practice and deep understanding. So, don’t be misled by people who portray Ki or Chi as some mystical or magical power. There’s nothing supernatural about it—it’s all about mastery and efficient use of energy.
